Why Intensive Therapy
While some wonder if intensive therapy is really worth it, or what the benefits could be, here are the words of a parent whose child visited Now I Can this summer.
“We have travelled out of state six times to take our son to 3 or 4 week sessions of intensive therapy and suit therapy. Despite considerable personal expense and time sacrifices, we look forward to these trips because he makes progress every time he goes through a session of intensive therapy.
The results of intensive physical therapy and suit therapy have been absolutely positive and dramatic for our son! He is much stronger and has significantly greater balance. Due to this increased strength and balance he is able to do a number of things he was unable to do before such as army crawl across a room. Previously, he could not hold his head up and could only look down at the floor. As a result of intensive therapy, he can now hold his head up strong and look around. This has opened up a whole new world to him! Intensive therapy has also resulted in much greater body strength and control. This increased torso strength has even improved his speech. Previously he used only a few hesitant words. Now, he has an expanded vocabulary with increased volume.
Physical therapy back home is only about maintaining the levels he has already achieved. However, at Now I Can, you actually work at improving, at getting him to be the best that he can be. Each new level of development we have seen him make has come through intensive therapy session. Indeed, he has been going to traditional therapy since he was 18-months-old and we believe that each 3 or 4 week session of intensive therapy has benefited him more than 4 years of traditional therapy. “
